About Me

Mitchell David Lopate was an adjunct writing/composition/literature, public speaking, and business English instructor and elementary school teacher in the U.S. and China--despite once having terrible stage fright. He does stand-up comedy about it now....

He is an international psychological astrology advisor, a creative writer, an academic-educational support consultant, a music journalist, a metaphysical and holistic counselor, university professor of business administration, and an editor for a banking regulations company.

He prefers doing all that at once. Or at least, most of it. It keeps him managing his ADD. (However, it's gaining on him. He once channeled Groucho Marx. That wasn't so bad--at least he wasn't asked by Groucho for a cigar. Isaac Newton, however, wanted a poem written about astrology and Halley's Comet. O. Henry also asked for a one-act play about grifting. There's also a 21st-century modern Greek myth. That's all in his education book and site....)

He's written 11 books, including one about an autistic girl who talks with dragons, the origin of the platypus, a book on rock 'n' roll and blues music, two autobiographies  (one is faith-based; the other is comic non-fiction), a review of a 7-Oscar-award-winning movie, a book on creative education ideas, and a book on psychological astrology for counselors and therapists.

He has lived in 11 states (including the Aleutian island of Adak, Alaska) and visited all but North Dakota and Hawaii. He probably logged about 30,000 miles cross-country for various reasons. A U.S. Navy veteran, he has visited most of S.E. Asia, and drove around England with his mother-in-law in the back seat of the car offering directions.

With origins from New York, he once lived on a small farm in Alabama, where he raised chickens, kept two llamas, a horse, mule, and assorted cats, and now is atop a mountain in California. He has a past-life association with Oscar Wilde and the HMS Titanic--simultaneously--and visitations to/from the Pleiades, Andromeda, and Orion star systems. He plans to win a major lottery because...well, it's his intention and desire.
But seriously: congratulations! By visiting this site, your life will be changed in extraordinary ways that you never imagined. That's what Mitch does to people.
